This website was first designed and run by Befekir Kebede, an Ethiopian-born journalist and photographer who lives in Melbourne, Australia.
Befekir has a passion for photography and journalism and studied multimedia, photography, journalism and documentary-filmmaking at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Australia and is currently working in those fields.
One of the many advantages of living in Australia for Befekir has been to learn about what people know and don't know about Ethiopia. Befekir believes that because of the way Ethiopia is portrayed in the Western media, people are used to hearing problems about Ethiopia.
Many are led to believe that Ethiopia is nothing more than a deserted land in Africa where people starve and die. As someone who was born and raised in Ethiopia, Befekir knows Ethiopia has many unique aspects that people anywhere in the world would like to know about.
